As you build a pergola and get to the part where you install purlins and roof sheets then you know your pergola is almost complete.
Purlins are the small in size but generally long in length timber lengths that run parallel to the ridge, across the rafters of a pergola and provide fixing points for roofing sheets to be laid.
Watch how Peter, one of our expert builders, deals with these as he builds a pergola. Link back to our earlier blog post on how to build a pergola for step-by-step instructions on how to install purlins and how to install roof sheets. Note that both the video and the instructions in the blog are for polycarbonate roof sheets.
